Artist's Statement

"Grunge Anatomy" is a piece of art I created as part of the Immersion series. It is an example of a piece of abstract art portraying a musical story...

The dominating "spine" is derived from piano keys, depicting the essence of a musician's creativity remaining in tact despite the deterioration of the flesh (burned away in the red kiln on the left side).?? Aside from the grungy blood, dirt and ash, there are the peaceful greens and white colours representing growth, peace and space for renewal - there's also a woman's back and a small guitar tucked in there too amongst the rubble.??
